Pic shows: Carmen Yarira Noriega Esparza was found dead floating in a water tank.
The putrified remains of an aspiring actress who friends and family thought had been kidnapped by a sex slave gang after she went missing nearly a year ago have been found floating in a water tank.
Pretty brunette Carmen Yarira Noriega Esparza 27, was last seen leaving her gym in the Mexican capital Mexico city in February last year.
After police inquiries failed to turn up anything, friends and family began a campaign on social media to try and find her, as well as taking to the streets to post up her photographs in the hope that someone might recognise her.
Pal Javier Paz, 30, said: “She was a talented and beautiful psychologist who dreamed of being an actress.
“But she had come into contact with dangerous people involved in exploiting women for sex and we were very worried that they had taken her.”
Her remains were found floating on top of the domestic water tank used to supply over 50 parts of the city when residents complained about the water tasting strange.
A police spokesman said: “City officials were called to the tank and when they opened it up they found the body in a high state of putrefaction.
“The body has been taken to the Institute of Forensic Sciences where a postmortem will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.
“We are looking into suggestions that she may have been taken by a gang involved in the sex slave business and are working with Commission United against Human Trafficking.”
Police also confirmed that they were investigating her separation from a businessman who allegedly paid for her apartment after she dumped him for a lawyer.
